Free Garden Compost to Hillingdon Residents

Hillingdon residents will be able to help themselves to free compost on Sunday, 7th May 2006 at the West London Composting site in New Year's Green Lane, Harefield, between 10am and 2pm.

Residents should bring their own shovels to bag the free supplies, available on a first come first served basis, which are suitable for using on plants, shrubs and trees.

Gates will close as soon as all the compost has been given away and is restricted to four bags per car.

The offer is part of a joint initiative between West London Composting (WLC) and the Council in support of International Compost Awareness Week between the 7th and 13th May 2006. Visitors will also be handed an information leaflet explaining how top quality compost is produced from the green waste collected from borough homes.

This offer from WLC and Hillingdon is an opportunity to say thank you to Hillingdon residents in helping to make the borough one of best for recycling in London. Being able to collect 100% natural compost made from the green wastes recycled via Hillingdon's garden waste collection service is one of the best examples of the real and direct benefits through recycling household waste.

Please feel free to forward this information to any family members, friends or colleagues that live in the Borough who might benefit from this information.

Yours faithfully,

Duncan Jones
WASTE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - LB HILLINGDON
